Deutsche Annington Distinguished as Family-Friendly Business
Bochum, June 20th, 2007 - Deutsche Annington Immobilien Group (DAIG, Bochum) has been commended for their family-friendly personnel policy. The Federal Minister of Family Affairs, Ursula von der Leynen, awarded the company the certificate for the “Occupation and Family” assessment. This assessment measures the degree of a company’s family-friendliness and is supported by both The Federal Ministry for Family, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth as well as the Federal Ministry for Economy and Technology. “The certified companies and institutions demonstrate on a daily basis how a company can be both family-conscious and successful at the same time,” explained Federal Minister for Family Affairs, von der Leyen. “They are fantastic forerunners!” I am convinced that many other companies will follow in their footsteps and make family-friendliness into a trademark of the Germany economy.”
DAIG scored many points with their highly-flexible work schedule regulations, individual part-time guidelines and their personnel development rounds, among other things. “We will not stop here: we have established internal working groups which concentrate on what more could be done for employees in the areas of health and family-friendliness,” explained Volker Siekermann, Director of Personnel at Deutsche Annington. “Social responsibility begins with our employees and continues with the contact to our customers. Our goal is to connect employees to our company and to continue to improve motivation.” Research from the University of Münster has shown that a family-friendly personnel policy reduces absences due to sickness as well as employee turnover.
At DAIG, the flexible work schedule regulations do not only apply to parents who wish to look after their children, but also for employees who take care of an ill family member. “We take the fact into account that family is much more than just the parent-child relationship,” according to Siekermann.
DAIG plans to develop and focus on even more health-related incentives for employees. The company will then in 2010 voluntarily take the test once again in order to be able to bear the “family-friendly” seal of approval.
